Michael's novella "In October" appears alongside novellas by acclaimed authors David Thomas Lord and John Michael Curlovich in this Halloween collection. "In October" tells the tale of a gay teenager in a small town whose life consists of daily bullying and harassment. One night, pushed too far, he turns to the occult as his sole method of revenge—with gruesome results. This novella is the latest in a series of stories set in and around Michael's actual former hometown, Milton, Ontario and the imaginary town of Auburn, his own private corner of the dark fantasy universe. Previous Milton and Auburn stories have appeared in Don Hutchison's Northern Frights 3 and Northern Frights 4, Brothers of the Night, and the young adult anthology Be Very Afraid, edited by Edo van Belkom.
